Appleloosa to be invaded by buffaloes?

Without proper border control, the newly settled areas in south Equestria seem to be in danger already. Obviously, hundreds of buffaloes try to enter Equestria illegally, wanting to benefit from the good services, but not contributing to it.

What are the Appleloosans doing about it? According to recent information, they even support the invaders.

We urge Celestia to take immediate action, before fine Equestrian values are drowning.

A Life on Stage [part 4]

That was the last performance of the Great and Powerful Trixie. But would that have been the end of Trixie? By now, her new way of theatre, the sheer force of innovation, hat drawn circles in the cultural elite of Equestria, and a new kind of show had been recently established.

You have surely visited it, once. You just sit there, and on stage is only one mare or stallion, without props, and they make you laugh, or cry, or think, or all at once. Just a year ago, this would have been thought of as too boring and puzzling to be done.

So I sit here now, slurp my drink, look at the clock. The Great and Powerful Trixie was to perform. She is half an hour late. Impolite, but just fitting into her personality. So I wait. The stage remains empty, and the first ponies leave the club. There is no notice from the manager, and the waiter just shrugs.

After an hour, I want to go as well. What a disappointment. Comeback of the year… and then I hear the trumpets, the very sound, the tune that is Trixie’s cue. Outside. Quickly I turn to see an improvised stage on the town square.

And Berry Mint shouts: “Come one, come all! Come and witness the amazing abilities of the Great and Powerful Trixie!”

I smile to myself. She was back, and as good as ever.

A Life on Stage [part 3]

The Great and Powerful Trixie was not a play, it was a character. A single character, free from plot, free from the chains of verses and rehearsal and study. The Great and Powerful Trixie was everything that Trixie Blue could not be, but perhaps was aspiring to be. Yet she was all what Berry Mint had wanted to be.

A Life on Stage [part 2]

Berry Mint took every chance to get on a stage. She went to many auditions, but it was not so often her talent that was lacking, but rather her attitude. Confident of her abilities and skills, she did not take the auditions seriously, acted as if just by seeing her the manager will jump up and yell “We have a new star!”. Frankly, that did not happen. That is not how the industry works.

A Life on Stage [part 1]

The sun slowly sets over the town, and the little night life begins. Friday evening, the ponies are off work and look for a good time, to have a drink, chat, be with friends, or to be distracted from their hard work and everyday lives.

Ponyville’s theatre district is small, but re-known. Stars had been born here. Timbre Wood, the original James Colt, used to play for ten years here. So many bands used to play their first gigs in the Rusty Nail, the walls are plastered with their autographs.

And today, many young and established actors wait for their chance to please the audience. There is a particular one-mare show that attracts my eye tonight. And I go into the small room, get a drink, and wait. And the curtains move up.

The Rainbow Files [2]

To everypony close to Miss Rainbow Dash, her obsession with the Wonderbolts is well known. But also her obsession with speed and flight tricks, an obsession that makes her forget her duties and even often friendship and morale.

Let us dig a bit deeper into Rainbow Dash’s history. She got her name from the irregularly coloured mane, in all colours of the rainbow, which seems genuine, no dye involved. Like all pegasi in Cloudsdale, she’s been assigned to Flight School, a place where pegasi learn to control and train their wings.

At Flight School, she became notorious for missing classes or being too late, but that was not unusual. Cloudsdale Flight School is known for the rules, but also for little to no enforcement by teachers and staff. An open secret, Flight School motto is to support rather than to suppress.

Noted in the history of the school was the as young Rainbow Dash supposedly did a trick known as “Sonic Rainboom”. At the moment she pulled it off, she was close to ground and had almost no witnesses, but everypony up high on the clouds swore she actually did it. And for being the first filly to do a Sonic Rainboom in centuries, she was immediately assigned to the Junior Speedsters.

But her bad manners and behaviour continued at the Speedsters. Here she met friends, like Gilda the Griffon, on which Rainbow Dash had a very bad influence. Together, they became infamous for pranks. And this eventually led to getting them both expelled.

After a year of low work at the weather factory, she forged a recommendation to get the vacant weathermare post in Ponyville. Now at a firm position, she began to persecute her dreams once more: Become the best flyer in Equestria.

But unlike her heroes, the Wonderbolts, Rainbow Dash seems unable to put up with the discipline and serious determination required.

And this is not even all of the Rainbow Files. The most startling revelations are yet to come!

The Rainbow Files

Ponyville is a nice place to live, especially for young foals. The air is fresh, the grass is well kept, the seasons are on time. There are some problems with jobs, but if you don’t have to worry about that, Ponyville is great to spend your life in.

Except that the weather seems a bit off. Among Ponyvillians, it has become a common joke, and if you check up the weather chronicles and the weather schedules, you will find a lot of uneven entries. Storms are belated, sunny days end up in rain, there’s an entire winter without proper snow.

The reason might be Ponyville’s head weathermare, a pony who truly has her head in the clouds. She goes by the name of Rainbow Dash and is surprisingly young for someone with that post. The mare is quite known, even outside of the town: She won this year’s best young flyer competition and is known for being one of the fastest pegasi.

There seems to be the problem: According to friends, she is constantly practising her flying skills, more so recently, and also often seen napping on trees or clouds. Of course there’s no time left for taking care of the weather. While she seems to be able to handle weather quickly and even on her own, she often seems to simply forget.

Why is she still weathermare? Surely because Ponyville’s mayor lacks the competence to recognise Rainbow Dash’s incompetence. Or maybe because there’s just no pegasus with sufficient knowledge about the weather wanting to take over in Ponyville. Graduates from Cloudsdale’s Weather Academy prefer the better paid posts in Canterlot or Maneami. So this mare will most likely keep her job, which she seems to consider a sinecure.

But this is only the first chapter of the Rainbow Files. There’s much more to this mare than just some clouds.

A Feathered Grave [correction]

It was merely the awareness of the morgue’s chief assistant that helped sort their mistake out. They just released a press release, that some hours before the griffon’s body was about to be incinerated, they hat to notice the body was male. Why, however, said assistant looked after the corpse’s gender in the middle of the night, cannot be said.

We took some more effort in trailing this, as we don’t want to give out false messages again. The griffon found dead was not, in fact, Gilda. Little is known, according to the bit of information the body is that of a griffon male named Gerald. According to their parents, he was seeking to join Gilda’s excellent flying group, the Gildabolts, but has been rejected as he could not meet their strict physical requirements.

Apparently, he had broken into her apartment. Why he died in there, without any wound, cannot be conclusively said, as the body is now incinerated and buried in a community grave. Gilda and the Gildabolts had shown sad:

We Did Not Want This To End Like This, But Our Requirements Are Strict.

Gilda had been in her apartment, but away on a trip to Ponyville, apparently to meet some friends. As it was a surprise visit, nobody knew she was still alive.

The Weekly Pony wants to take this opportunity to apologise to Gilda for any inconvenience.
